Pupils of the 9 "E" form

To love nature means to know it well. One of the main directions of educational work in gymnasium ¹8 is ecological education. The non-government children's organization "Green Republic" is created here which members are teachers and pupils of the gymnasia who are interested in the safe future of our planet and preservation of nature. This problem is vital for the whole gymnasia and co-ordinators of the programs are biology, chemistry, physics and geography teachers. The pupils of the 9^e form under the guidance of Li M.N. are being occupied with the ecological direction since the 5^th form. During this time they have explored the nature of the South-Kazakhstan region,

architectural memorials, the vegetable and the animal kingdoms of the Aksu-Djabagly preserve. In 2000 they participated with their ecological project "Ecologic path" in the seminar that was organized by the Association of UNESCO Schools in Almaty. The work was published in the project collection of the Association. The pupils are constantly taking part in all ecological projects, competitions, contests and take prize places. In our gymnasia ecologic seminars, exhibitions and excursions are regularly held. The museum of the South-Kazakhstan region is created where everyone can learn a lot about nature of the native land. In December 2003 the pupils of 9^e form Seytjanov Sadvakkas, Vershinina Anastasia, Tleuberdiyeva Laura and Aydabulova Alisa participated in the town ecological seminar "The World in the Eyes of Children" and were marked off with diploma for the work that was rich of content. They prepared the project of exploration of the vegetable kingdom of our region and organized an exhibition.

If you want children to love nature and to learn more about its beauty and natural resources, you should guide them carefully. That is the task of the ecologic-geographical 11^b form under the leadership of geography teacher Olgina N.V. Especially for this purpose they have built an "ecologic path" to Dendropark, so that pupils can practically consolidate their knowledge and acquire the experience of communication with nature. These routes are intended both for pupils of higher and elementary forms. Their deep impressions are evidence of the fact that the intercourse with nature exerts positive influence on their minds and souls. According to the opinion of teachers it helps pupils

greatly in their studies. In the opinion of K.D. Ushinsky one practical hour in the fields equals several ones spent on the school bench. In order to acquaint the pupils with nature and history of the South-Kazakstan region the school museum in 11^b form is created where lectures and exhibitions are often presented. The pupils of the 11^b form have participated several times in the ecological conferences held by UNESCO. They have successfully defended their projects and have got certificates of UNESCO. They hope that other people will follow the good example and unite to solve the problem of preservation and protection of the world's nature.
